Weltspiegel Kino Center
Germany’s Oldest Cinema Meets the Future of Screen Technology
The historic Weltspiegel Kino Center in Mettmann, Germany’s oldest continuously operating cinema, has jumped into the future of film technology. By installing a state-of-the-art Expromo 3D LED cinema screen, the venue now stands among only a handful of cinemas in Europe to adopt LED technology. While most European theatres still rely on traditional projection, LED cinemas represent a new generation of visual performance, delivering superior brightness, color accuracy, and contrast.
LED elevates the movie-going experience
The auditorium now features a 10-meter-wide 4K DCI-approved LED screen with a 2.4 mm pixel pitch, HDR capability, and 3D support, delivering outstanding image sharpness, depth, and color precision. The display meets the latest standards for digital cinema and provides a consistent viewing experience from every seat in the theatre. Complementing the screen is a Dolby Atmos sound system, finely calibrated to create a multidimensional sound field. With both picture and MAG’s new LED ERA sound system at the highest technical level, the installation sets a new benchmark for immersive cinema.
Efficient Installation and International Collaboration
Experts from Expromo, HeyLED and ECCO Cine Supply and Service GmbH joined forces so that the Installation was completed in just three days. Final automation and Dolby Atmos calibration were handled locally, and the LED system was fully operational within the week. The project demonstrates how close collaboration with ECCO, our exclusive partner for Expromo’s HeyLED DCI-approved cinema screens in the DACH region, and technical expertise can turn a historic cinema into one of Europe’s most advanced viewing environments. It marks a significant milestone in Expromo’s continued growth within the cinema segment.
“This makeover sets new standards. We are convinced that movie goers, regardless of age, will appreciate the outstanding image quality and 3D LED. This technology takes events and gaming on the big screen to the next level. We are very confident about the future.”
